1. Re: Is there any way to hook up more than 2 displays on a Quadro4000 please?
Harm Millaard Jul 5, 2011 11:42 AM (in response to tfi productions 44)AFAIK only two of the three connectors can be used at the same time. One would need an ATI Eyefinity card for that but then lose the advantage of hardware MPE.

Bill Gehrke Jul 5, 2011 1:28 PM (in response to tfi productions 44)I do not know if this will work with a Quadro or not but I installed two GeForce GTX cards (GTX 580 and a low end GTX --I cannot remember which one) in my system one time and tried it out and it seemed to work fine. Someone on the forum had asked a similar question for installing three monitors. One driver version for both cards. I do not know if you could have problems with a Quadro and a low end GTX card as they would be two different drivers. If you have one handy try it out. But I would say do not tie them together in SLI what ever you do!

tfi productions 44 Jul 5, 2011 2:23 PM (in response to Bill Gehrke)hello Bill and Harm,
thanks for the answers...
just got back from B&H in NYC
and their tech guy said the same:
install another graphics card
i actually have a lower end nvidia card that works with the hack
so i guess that's what's on tonight's agenda
i'm pretty sure the same driver will work for both cards
i will not sli the 2 cards
i'll report back, take care, thanks,

4. Re: Is there any way to hook up more than 2 displays on a Quadro4000 please?
ECBowen Jul 6, 2011 3:48 PM (in response to tfi productions 44)Nvidia removed the Geforce drivers from the Quadro Driver install and now running a Quadro with a Geforce card is more complicated. You have to install the Quadro drivers and the Geforce drivers. Last time I did one of those setups, I believe you wanted to install the Quadro first and then do the Geforce 2nd. The part that was sketchy was selecting the GPU card that does the acceleration in the Nvidia control panel. You need to select 1 or the other when you have them both installed and it would keep defaulting to the wrong card after you restarted or closed the panel. I have not tried this setup with the current Nvidia drivers.

tfi productions 44 Jul 8, 2011 9:07 PM (in response to ECBowen)hello,
after 2 days of utter hell
i removed the 2nd gpu (9800gt)
and ppro was working beautifully again
with the 2 gpus installed, ppro would hang, crash, puke, curse
and the strangest thing is: ppro would not give me a sequence in the timeline
STILL WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE ON THE MATTER please
the 3 monitor solution for PPRo is great if it works...
thanks for your help so far...

lasvideo Jul 8, 2011 9:25 PM (in response to tfi productions 44)From what I've heard the 2 cards must be matches. You most likely could run 2 Quadro 4000 with no problems. If you have the cash, buy it from Amazon. There's currently a $100 rebate on that product until July 31 I think. For most items they have a great return policy if it doesn't work.

tfi productions 44 Jul 9, 2011 9:44 AM (in response to lasvideo)hello,
thank you for more information on the matter
i think that is the way i will go
does anyone else know if PPRO cs5 5.03 will work
with 2 identical gpus using the same driver?
win 7
thanks,
jeffrey
(i'm gonna start a new post re: using 2 identical gpus)

Andrew M Clark Jul 9, 2011 10:29 PM (in response to tfi productions 44)Hello Jeffrey -
If you find out that using two Quadro 4000's works, I have a Quadro 4000 for sale.
Still shrinked wrapped in the box. It's a PNY Quadro 4000.
I actually won it at the Adobe PPro CS5.5 seminar / tour last month!!
I don't really need it, so if you want it I'm selling it for $500 including shipping and insurance.

9. Re: Is there any way to hook up more than 2 displays on a Quadro4000 please?
ECBowen Jul 11, 2011 7:21 AM (in response to tfi productions 44)The configuration has become more difficult since Nvidia removed the Geforce drivers from the Quadro install. However you definitely want to use a Geforce card with the same series GPU as the Quadro 4000. That means you need atleast a 400 series Geforce card if you are going to make that work. 2 Quadros would be the easiest configuration as long as they are both Fermi Quadro's.

10. Re: Is there any way to hook up more than 2 displays on a Quadro4000 please?
tfi productions 44 Jul 11, 2011 4:37 PM (in response to ECBowen)hello,
i got a 2nd quadro 4000 identical to the one already installed
after switching off 1 card in the nvidia control panel about cuda rendering
PPRO cs5 5.03 booted up like a charm and so far has been running quite well
without any on screen glitches
however, due to pci-e slots the 2nd card is installed just above the powersupply
and heats up more than i'd like 72degrees C (and it isn't doing any of the cuda rendering)
tonight i'm looking at the placing a regular house fan on the side of the tower case that is opened
and just get a lot more circulation...
what's really neat is that i wanted 3 monitors, now i have 4
i need to buy 2 more 1920x1080 monitors shortly
it was definitely worth the experience...
thanks to all who contributed,
may the force be with you always,
jeffrey
