1. Re: Embedded .tif-pictures in InDesign 5...
P Spier Jul 11, 2011 7:14 AM (in response to guido.bissig)If ID says the files are missing they are linked, not embedded. Embedded images can neither be missing nor modified in the file.
Embedded images would also show an "embedded" icon in the links panel.

P Spier Jul 11, 2011 7:15 AM (in response to P Spier)As to what you can do... well, nothing, unless your colleague is able to locate the originals.

Steve Werner Jul 11, 2011 7:20 AM (in response to guido.bissig)Your friend should use the LInks panel. He/she should select each embedded file (it will show the embed icon) and choose Unembed Link. They will be prompted to relink to the original (which they say they don't have) or create a folder to put them in.
If that does not work, the embedded images have become corrupt and are no longer readable by InDesign.

John Hawkinson Jul 11, 2011 12:22 PM (in response to guido.bissig)I would tend to think we have misdiagnosed this, and the original files are on the colleague's server. So the easy answer is to instruct the colleague to use File > Package to assemble the links together with the layout, then have him zip that up and send it to you.
