FAQ: Why does audio or video not go to the track where I drop it?

      Issue
Some users have trouble dragging a clip into the Timeline. One of three things can happen:

      1. Only the video or audio portion of the clip appears in the Timeline after dragging, or when you try to drag a clip into the Timeline.
        • If that is your issue, see Solution 1.
      2. Neither audio or video can be edited into the Timeline but the application does not freeze.
        • If that is your issue, see Solution 1.
      3. The application freezes when attempting to drag the clip into the Timeline.
        • If that is your issue, see Solution 2.

      Solution 1
Make sure source video and audio is patched in the Timeline, then drag the clip to the Timeline. In certain cases it is not automatically patched.

      Solution 2

In Premiere Pro CC 2015 (9.2) there is a bug preventing dragging any clip to the Timeline without the application freezing:

      • If there are In and Out marks in the Timeline which have a longer duration than the source clip, after dragging the clip into the Timeline, the application freezes.
      • The only way to continue working is to force quit the application.
      • The workaround is to remove In and Out marks prior to dragging the clip into the Timeline.
      • As an editor, always remove In and Out marks as soon as you are done with them. It will prevent this issue from constantly recurring.
