    Advice On Upgrade

    wayne greensill Community Member

      Hi Guys,

I currently run Adobe CS4 Production Premium on Windows Xp and looking to upgrade to CS 5.5.

What I would like to know is how do i go about upgrading to CS 5.5 on a new pc I'm about to purchase which has Windows 7. Do I install CS4 first then the 5.5 upgrade? I ask this because I am unsure whether CS4 will install on a new pc with Windows 7. I will also be installing the Matrox MX02.

I would appreciate any of your comments.

      Thanking you

You don't need to install the CS4 software on the new system, but you will need to be able to enter your CS4 serial number when you run the installer for the upgrade version of CS5.5!

            Hi there,

Thanks you for your fast response. So this applies to the upgrade version as well as the full version?

Yes. Upgrade disks and full version disks contain the same code.

The only difference between them is the serial number required to convince the installer to install the software.

Insert the upgrade disk for CS5.5 on your new Win 7 PC.

The installer asks for a qualifying serial no.

              Enter the CS4 serial no.

The installer will continue to install CS5.5.
