i´m having the same problem, resetting the prefs doesnt work for me.
It seems to cause on older files, created in CS4.
Files created in CS5.5 dont have a problem, I can close without errors.
If i close older files, i get the DDE Server Error. Even if i make a change an save, or i only open and close...
Any other Ideas than resetting the prefs?
Thanks for your help!
If you find a file that generates the erro you can try exporting it to .idml, then resave that as .indd. It might help.
Thanks Peter for your fast response.
I tried but even exporting and resave doesnt help me with my problem.
Same as before.
Could it be...
There are 13 missing connections (right word in english, i hope) to deleted files like pics or so.
Could that be important??
Could that cause the problem?
In English we would say missing links, and unfortuantley that is not likely to be the problem.
Have you always had this issue, or did it start recently? My feeling is that if resetting the prfs is not working for you it's either a conflict with something else, or a corrupt installation (though why that would only show when opeing CS4 files is a mystery to me). You might consider reinstalling.
of course, missing links! Dóh!
2 weeks ago we upgraded 3 of 8 PC from CS4 to 5.5.
All 3 PC´shave the same issue with the same files. the other 5 computers are working still with CS4, without a problem on the same file!
adobe often causes different problem in the company, so we know about the Adobe cleaner tool.
I have deinstalled cs4, run the cleaner tool and then installed cs5.5. I hope i dont have to reinstall again...
I dont work myself with Adobe products, but i have to troubleshoot, which is not easy if you dont know how it works...
