1. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
[Jongware] Aug 5, 2011 1:31 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)The Basic preflight might not check missing fonts by default.

3. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
Steve Werner Aug 5, 2011 6:04 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)You're correct. The Basic profile does check for fonts. I've never encountered that problem.
You might try restoring your InDesign preferences.

4. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
P Spier Aug 5, 2011 6:41 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)Have you asked Find Font to show you the missing font? I'm not sure Preflight would pick it up in overset text, a placed PDF or similar or even on the pasteboard.

5. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
Shlomit Heymann Aug 11, 2011 3:09 AM (in response to P Spier)Yes I did.
Its a text box, with vector elemet pasted inside.
the vector element has the font defintion.
you know what,
can I sent you the file?
It has a very strange behaviour.
the minute I delete the next enter,
it becomes ok. but I can't figure out why.
than, if I take the text frame into a new document, I do get the preflight error.
I just can't figure out why on that specifc document it behaves like this.
(I was so busy, couldn't asnwer till today).
goo day,
shlmoit

P Spier Aug 11, 2011 3:50 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)Send me the file, but I can't promise I can solve the problem. Do you still have my contact info?

7. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
P Spier Aug 11, 2011 7:10 AM (in response to P Spier)Well I've been playing, and I managed to get it to crash CS5 (but not CS5.5 yet) but I still have no real idea of what's going on. My suspicion, though is it's WinSoft's bug, not Adobe's, but I can't say that for absolute certainty.
I can say that I see the same thing with your file in my US version, but if I copy the anchored object and paste it into a new frame in a new file it does not carry the missing font with it. Copying the entire paragraph containing the anchored frame does bring the formatting, and changes the alignment as well (and adds another missing font, WinSoft Pro Med) which is now formatting the paragraph marker rather than the Minion Pro that is assigned in the original, so my suspiscions are that this is somehow ME version related. Preflight still does not see the missing WoodType Ornaments font.

8. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
Eugene Tyson Aug 11, 2011 7:21 AM (in response to P Spier)Does tagged InD text file reveal the missing font?

9. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
P Spier Aug 11, 2011 7:35 AM (in response to Eugene Tyson)Not sure what you mean? Export to tagged text?
The font shows up as missing in Find Font, and in the character fields when it's selected, but Preflight doesn't notice.

10. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
P Spier Aug 11, 2011 7:37 AM (in response to Eugene Tyson)And do you want to play? I'm sure Shlomit wouldn't mind -- there's nothing confidential in the file, just the single text frame with a single paragraph containing only an anchored frame with a vector ornament.

Eugene Tyson Aug 11, 2011 7:41 AM (in response to P Spier)Yeh sure I'll take a look

12. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
P Spier Aug 11, 2011 7:46 AM (in response to Eugene Tyson)I just checked, and yes, the tagged text includes the font.
I get an error when trying to import the abrreviated style (but it works), and the verbose style alos imports fine, except that neither one has the art. Preflight, however, sees the fonts as missing (and the pink highlight is there now, as well).

13. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
Eugene Tyson Aug 11, 2011 7:50 AM (in response to P Spier)Solved?

14. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
P Spier Aug 11, 2011 8:26 AM (in response to Eugene Tyson)I would say no, since you lose the anchored object, and I don't know what happens in ME.

15. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
Shlomit Heymann Aug 11, 2011 9:05 AM (in response to P Spier)If I take the whole text box and copy to new file the problem disappears. I judt don't understand how it's there to begin with and if that means I'm unable to trust preflight...

16. Re: IDCS5.5: Preflight "No errors" while Find Font - Error!?
P Spier Aug 11, 2011 9:48 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)You might want to send Gabe Harbs a message and have him look at this, too.
Your behavior is differnt from what I see copying the entire frame -- I continue to see the phantom font (which frankly I expect since the font is part of the paragraph formatting). What bothers me is that preflight isn't recognizing that the font is applied. I don't know why that is -- Find Font see it, the style sees it and removing overrides changes it. So the bottom line is maybe you can't trust preflight.
That said, though, I think that perhaps the reason Preflight doesn't see a problem is the missing font isn't actually applied to any text on the page, only to the "character" representing the anchored object. As soon as I add any sort of text character to the line, or change the paragraph mark to the missing font, Preflight kicks out an error.
