    Clone Stamp Tool

    Tnmike Community Member

When I first started using CS5 Extended the clone stamp tool display had a "halo" around it.  The top half of the "halo" showed the color shade of the Presnt selection.  The bottom half of the "halo" showed the color shade of the Previous selection.  I am fairly certain there is a switch or option in CS5 that turn this "halo" feature on and off.  I can find nothing in printed literature, help documents or tutorials that even address this feature.  Can someone tell me how to turn this clone stamp feature "on"

The Clone Stamp Tool does not have a "halo" exactly as you describe.  I think perhaps you've confused two things.

What you're describing sounds a bit like the color picker you see with the Brush Tool when you have enabled OpenGL and use the Alt key while sampling a color from the image.

When OpenGL is enabled, the Clone Stamp Tool DOES, however, have the ability to preview a brush sized/shaped real-time "overlay" of what would be cloned if you were to click the mouse.

To enable the Clone Stamp overlay, do this:

          1.  Choose Window - Clone Source from the menus.

          2.  Ensure the following box is checked:

You are correct, I was confused.  It was a feature I saw when first using CS5 but never used right away.  How do I enable OpenGL?

Please disregard the last questions.  I have found how to enable OpenGL.  Thanks so much for your help.  As usual it is spot on.
