whenever I launch RoboHelp 9.0 it will crash, the error message shows something wrong with the updaternotification.dll

this dll version is 1.0.0.64

My PC is Windows XP SP3, try on many Windows XP SP3 machines, having the similar problems

but when I try to install in Windows 7, it does not have this problem

I have try to run Adobe Cleaner Tool and reinstall RoboHelp but it does not help at all

Call up Adobe Tech but they cant solve as well

having paid 3 licenses of RoboHelp 9.0 but cannot use it at all (previously using RoboHelp 7 without problem)

anyone can help

thanks in advance.

I am making some enquiries. Did Tech Support not offer to escalate the problem? Please contact me via my site to advise the Case Number that was given.

Try the following workaround

  1. Close RoboHelp is running.
  2. Go to <RoboHelp Install Folder>\RoboHTML\updaternotifications.dll and rename it.
  3. Now try running RoboHelp again. It should solve your crash problem, but automatic updates may be disabled or may not work.
  4. To search for patches on demand, you can run the updater manually by executing the file

    \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\core\PDApp.exe
