badchess Aug 22, 2011 7:55 AM (in response to Mike Gondek2)My client would like to be able to see the edges of the text blocks when they are not selected.
I suppose I'll tell her to drag guidelines...

Kurt Gold Aug 22, 2011 2:59 PM (in response to badchess)Is that a frequent task? If so, one could automatise it a bit.

John Kallios Aug 22, 2011 11:51 PM (in response to badchess)I assume InDesign is not an option.
You can save a selection of all the type objects and load the saved selection. I assume the user wants to permanently see the frames as they are designing so it would not be a solution.

badchess Aug 23, 2011 5:41 AM (in response to John Kallios)Here is the story:
I was hired to teach a restaurant company's marketing deparment Illustrator, and, as John says, the user wants to see the frames as they are designing.
At the end of the last lesson (covering text) I did happen to notice they had indesign, and have been kicking myself for not steering them toward that in the first place. I'm not sure how it would go over if I was to say "OK, now that we are done with Illustrator, what you should really hire me for is to teach you indesign."
Sort of my mistake for teaching them what they asked for rather than what they needed.
I suppose I could also toss in a set of rectangles on a faded template layer to give her an idea of where the text areas are.
