    First Play Problems

    bigmanfontu Community Member

      Hey,

So I have this Adobe Encore project.  My first play is an intro video that goes into a main menu.

The problem I am having is that when I build my project, the first play video never plays.  It plays when I click on preview, however when I build it and play it, it skips the first play video and goes straight to the main menu.

I have already broken down the mpeg file I was using into it's elementary streams, intro.m2v and intro.mpa.

I have looked through previous posts in the forums and tried a number of different methods.  I tried importing both together as 1 timeline.  I've tried importing the .m2v file as a timeline, then importing the .mpa file as an asset and putting it in the timeline.  I even ditched the audio file to see if the .m2v file would play by itself.  Every attempt has ended in failure.

Here are screenshots of my flowchart and my timeline's end action properties:

I am using Adobe Encore CS5 version 5.0.0.508.

Any thoughts or ideas that can help?

Seems like this has come up before. Burn a test disk and it will probably work. I assume you are playing a folder on the computer for your test of the build.

I just did a test, and I get correct results in Encore preview and from a burned disk, but not from a build to folder using vlc player.

I second that - software players are frankly all a bad joke.

The only way to test anything is to try it in a Nuts n Bolts player

Personally, I'd dump the MPA audio too - it blows even harder than Dullby does..

              Hey,

You were right on the money.  I do use VLC for pretty much everything, including previewing the folder containing the dvd files.  And through VLC the intro didnt play and the button subpictures all looked wonky.

But, just as you said, I burned a test copy to disc and it looked and played exactly as it should.

It seems I was getting frustrated over nothing.  Ha ha.

It's hard to believe that the software still isn't there for computers to play DVD's accurately.

              Thanks for your help.

I don't really want to be a thread necro, but I have looked EVERYWHERE to find the solution to my problem.

Same thing -> Play First wouldn't play. Curse you VLC!

On my PSP3 it worked perfectly

A very late, but warm THANK YOU.
