1. Re: Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5 won't even start
rickg1949 Sep 2, 2011 7:49 AM (in response to Stanley Arthur)Oh oh! Hope this is not a trend. Yesterday my Premiere CS5.5 stopped "starting up". CS5 Premiere would start as would Encore. But all my work for last several months has been in 5.5, so no going backward.
I'm doing the dreaded all-day uninstall/reinstall and clean script drudgery. Will let you know how I make out.

Stanley Arthur Sep 2, 2011 7:56 AM (in response to rickg1949)My PPro also began quitting during start-up yesterday, but that turned out to be a solvable Matrox issue. I seriously doubt this new AME issue has anything to do with Matrox.

rickg1949 Sep 2, 2011 8:34 AM (in response to Stanley Arthur)Stan!!!
I have a Matrox box also. Please tell me, what was issue and how did you solve it? Although, I'm half way done with the uninstall at this point.

Stanley Arthur Sep 2, 2011 9:50 AM (in response to rickg1949)Sorry for the long delay, Rick. If you aren't already, go sign up for the Matrox MXO family forums. My saga lives on the forum for MXO2 Mini users on a PC using CS5 or 5.5.

ExactImage Sep 2, 2011 11:06 AM (in response to Stanley Arthur)I had a problem with Media Encoder quitting during startup and the problem was corrupt preferences. My recollection is that there is a key you can hold down while starting Media Encoder (maybe the Alt key) that will have it start up and reset all proferences. This cured my problem. Hope that helps you too.

Stanley Arthur Sep 2, 2011 11:31 AM (in response to ExactImage)Yes... Exactly right ExactImage. In my case, I have to hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift, then click on the boot icon. It cleared the prefs and started right up.
Voila and thank you.
