Hi experts,
Could any of you briefly explain the steps to upgrade from RoboHelp 5 to RH9? what will be biggiest issues on the road?
Thanks,

Hi Fran
It's incredibly difficult and you may need to set aside a week or longer of free time to do it.
Basically the procedure is as follows:
Make a backup copy of your project.
Open RoboHelp 9 and open the project. RoboHelp 9 should prompt you that it needs to upgrade the project. Say yes.
The biggest hurdle folks seem to have is with Lists. Check out the links below for that:
Oh, and about that week thing. That's what you tell your boss to buy you time. The process is nowhere close to that.
Cheers... Rick

Hi Rick,
Does that mean for a whole week the users could not use RoboHelp to search information? is there anyway to do it in parallel?
and if it is so difficult, is there any RoboHelp consultant specialized in helping other companies to the the upgrade?
Thanks,
Frances

Rick was teasing, see the last line of this reply. The help you have previously created remains available to your users while you are upgrading whether that takes an hour, a day or a week.
Also you shouldn't need any consultancy. Try upgrading first. As I said, if you have problems, just come back to the forum.

Also see the Using RoboHelp 7 and Using RoboHelp 8 pages on my site. You will be able to see if any of the issues with those version are relevant to you.
There shouldn't be any showstoppers. As Rick indicates lists could be an issue but that was mostly where people had customised them and the fix is not too difficult as long as you read the instructions carefully. If you do have problems, then post again in the forums.
As Rick said, create a backup of the X5 version before you upgrade it.
