1. Re: Lightroom 3 asking for ACR 6.5. Photoshop says its updated already but its version (6.4.1.145
Tai Lao Sep 14, 2011 2:26 AM (in response to J.Leach)Because I do not use Lightroom, I can't tell you why that application is asking you for ACR 6.5, which at this time is only available as a "Release Candidate" (advanced, almost-finished beta version) on Adobe Labs.
You may want to download and install the ACR 6.5 Release Candidate, or else post in the Lightroom forum for an explanation.
For the Release Candidate of ACR 6.5 see:

You sure you're running LR 3.4.1 and not the 3.5 RC from Adobe Labs? LR 3.4.1 will work with ACR 6.4.1 without popping an error. LR 3.5 will pop the error asking for ACR 6.5.

3. Re: Lightroom 3 asking for ACR 6.5. Photoshop says its updated already but its version (6.4.1.145
J.Leach Sep 14, 2011 7:22 PM (in response to Tai Lao)I DO have LR 3.5, and I did download the new ACR but can't load it - it creates the pop up window error as I included in my original question.
I click on the ACR pre beta 6.5 Lab release and it almost immediately pops up that error.
So, at least I know now I have LR 3.5 and that's why the 'you need ACR 6.5' message, but it ACR 6.5 isn't read or working yet, why am I getting this error?
Honestly, I thought I clicked on check for updates and it stated that I needed to download ACR 6.5, OR I could have possibly found that it was supposedly ready for beta release and I snatched it up - but I usually don't search for ACR updates - not my thing. And noone else uses this computer. So, i've no clue whats going on.
So, I guess I'll wait for ACR 6.5 to 'really' for 'reals' be ready and released.
Thanks guys.

The Camera Raw/Lightroom team releases beta versions (called release candidates) for a variety of reasons...noew camera support, bug fixes and to test, in the wild...LR 3.5 has a lot of bug fixes...ACR 6.5 not as much. Don't know why you are having issues downloading and installing ACR 6.5...we would need a lot more info to troubleshoot it for you. And just to be clear, when Adobe releases betas on the Labs site, that does NOT prompt an update in the general release apps. If you downloaded LR 3.5, you had to go to labs.adobe.com and accept the terms & conditions. LR 3.5 would not have been downloaded and installed with the app updater.

Noel Carboni Sep 18, 2011 8:47 AM (in response to J.Leach)"Beta" is more or less equivalent to "If you're a power user and REALLY know what you're doing, you might want to try this". It also implies "you're on your own".
To expect full integration across products is simply too much to ask.

geb01 Sep 29, 2011 10:36 AM (in response to J.Leach)OK I have the same issue but don't see the answer - don't need lessons on beta or really knowing what I'm doing - what's the correct answer from Adobe on this question:
I upgraded Lightroom 3 to 3.5. From 'edit in Photoshop' I now get the must upgrade Photoshop to ACR 6.5. Photoshop Upgrade says I have the lastest upgrade, but its ACR 6.4.1.145
Lectures and comments aside on not syncing Lightroom 3 and Photshop CS5 releases, What Is The Resolution to this problem?

Noel Carboni Sep 29, 2011 10:40 AM (in response to geb01)Would the problem be resolved if you, say, downloaded and installed the beta ACR 6.5 software?

geb01 Sep 29, 2011 12:18 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)Kind of a smart-*** answer for an Adobe employee (which I assume you are given you icon, I hope someone checks your work.
Can Adobe, say, not issue out LR3 updates that aren't in sync with ACR releases to CS5 such that CS5 says it is updated but LR3 says it isn't and so that I don't have to download a beta/release candidate and manually update the software?
So there is no proper answer just a "use the beta" workaround...?

Well, since this is a user to user forum, Noel is just a user like you. The fact that he uses a stylized PS avitar means nothing...actual Adobe employees have the word Employee under their names...based on your post count since you joined the forums, I guess you didn't know that, huh?
If you want help, you might want to check your attitude (which isn't really stellar) at the door.
MTSTUNER has given you the answer to resolve your issues-at least relating to ACR and LR...

geb01 Sep 29, 2011 1:47 PM (in response to Jeff Schewe)Seems to me you're the one with the attitude. MTSTUNER's reply obviously came after my question and was an answer - meaning your reply was nothing but self serving. I don't need the attitude, so I won't be back. Thanks for checking my post count as a means of defining me, I'm sure yours either makes you special and authorized to make personal comments just as the other guy's high count meands he can throw in ,say, into his posts.
No worries - I won't be back here.

Jeff Schewe Sep 29, 2011 2:20 PM (in response to geb01)I checked your post count to figure out why you thought Noel was an employee since you clearly didn't have a clue about these forums...and my post wasn't self-serving...it was intended as a slap upside the head for your boorish behavior. It seems to have worked...don't let the door hit ya on the way out. BTW, I hope the ACR 6.5 works for ya...(well, secretly I hope the installer barfs but, what the heck, one can hope :~)
P.S. maybe cut back on the caffeine or whatever is effecting you, just sayin'

Check your attitude. I'm just another Photoshop user, here to try to help out. Employees have the word EMPLOYEE under their name, and there is NO expectation that they will support you here. This is a user help forum.
Oh, and what I suggested WOULD have worked, if you had just tried it.
