1. Re: how to update an Encore project after a small PPO change
nefl777 Sep 15, 2011 7:34 AM (in response to nefl777)Hi, I've been flailing around all morning trying to solve this. I found a video that told me I had to drag/drop my PPO sequence onto my Encore project menu. First, I renamed my original sequence to be *orig. Then when I dragged my PPO sequence onto the encore project menu it said "can't do that.. you already have a sequence by that name." even tho I renamed the original.
Then I found a video that said "right click on the timeline and pick Update markers". When I right click on my timeline, that selection is greyed out.
Then I found a post that said you had to "revert to original" in order to have "update markers" not greyed out. My "revert to original" is greyed out !
I had created a disk image of this project and burned a disk. is that why I can't revert to original?
Do I have to start over ? frustrated!!! comon this should be solvable.
please help!

2. Re: how to update an Encore project after a small PPO change
nefl777 Sep 16, 2011 5:58 AM (in response to nefl777)Hi all, I just thought I would update my note. Turns out, I had to start over.
Yes, there is the ability to "right click on the timeline and pick Update markers" with the goal of importing new PPO timeline that had changes. I think there is a point of no return once you burn a disc or disc image - which is what I had done. With all the rendering that went on Encore can't deal with the project that way, at least right now.
So, I first saved the menus I had created for the project to disk. Then I got into PPO and "send to Encore" again. It was just time consuming to reconnect all the chapters.
FYI to anyone out there in the same situation.
Oh and another interesting thing; The "mistake" I needed to correct in my project was an unwelcome clip that got stuck onto the very end of the timeline. I didn't know it was there until I saw the entire DVD. I think it was one single frame. So I googled "clip cut" etc in Encore and found that there is the ability to click on the clip and drag the small red/black icon with the arrow to the left to reduce the timeline. I did that 4 times in a row each time generating an Encore crash. Just think, if that had worked I wouldn't have had to start over. Oh well!
have a great day everyone.

Stan Jones Sep 16, 2011 11:56 AM (in response to nefl777)Sorry I didn't see this yesterday.
I have created a PPO movie with chapters, sent it to encore, and created menus etc successfully. I saw a mistake in the original footage while watching the disc I made. Its a small mistake. So I went back to PPO and made my correction.
In order to get this fix into my finished encore project is this how I do it ?
Based on your other information, I believe you "sent it to Encore" via dynamic link.
All you had to do was to make the change in PR, and it would show up in Encore. If you transcoded it before, you must "Revert to Original" and then you would see the changes.
You do not dynamic link a second time or replace the orginal Encore timeline.
My experience with the update markers procedure is that it has worked well. -

5. Re: how to update an Encore project after a small PPO change
nefl777 Sep 18, 2011 4:06 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Stan, thanks for answering. Your directions would be very helpful but...
Read my second post again.
I understand I DO NOT dynamic link a second time, and I am aware of "update markers" which I hoped would be the answer. However, the command "revert to original" was greyed out on my menu. Do you have any idea why that would be ?
And Jim, my choice of words are obviously wrong. I meant I had a PPO project all done and then I sent to Encore. that's all.
thanks!

But you were renaming one sequence and dragging a sequence into Encore after you had one there, right? That is DLing a second time.
the command "revert to original" was greyed out on my menu. Do you have any idea why that would be ?
You burned a disk, which means the original DL sequence was transcoded. Normally you would have the option to revert to original. Make sure you select the Sequence, not the Timeline in Encore. You revert the Sequence, which is what gets transcoded.
If that is not the problem with reverting, the name change you refer to might mess things up.

nefl777 Sep 19, 2011 11:13 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Stan, thanks for this post. I appreciate you taking the time. I think you are right; I had clicked on the timeline, not the sequence, when "revert to original" was greyed out.
I will keep these directions for the future as I am sure I will run into this again.
thank you!

Stan Jones Sep 19, 2011 11:19 AM (in response to nefl777)It is an easy thing to miss, particularly with DL sequences, where the timeline and asset are named the same.
