How can I (a) draw highlights around portions of the screen, and (b) add arrows pointing from one portion of the screen to another using Robohelp html?

Hi there

This is normally done by editing the image in something like SnagIt, RoboScreenCapture, Paint, Photoshop or other to add the desired elements. Then simply insert the image into your topic.

Thanks for the suggestion.  So I would need to create an image with some other program and add it to the help page?  Would I have to adjust the opacity and somehow place it 'on top'?  I'm surprised there isn't an easier way to do this as there are in other programs such as Camtasia.

Hello again

We are talking about RoboHelp here, right? Assuming we are, please note that RoboHelp HTML is an HTML editor. That's vastly different than Camtasia. Whereas Camtasia allows you to create imagery with all sorts of layers and screen recording, RoboHelp HTML simply presents what has been created using these other applications.

As you seem to be familiar with Camtasia, are you also familiar with its cousin SnagIt? Assuming you are, you would use SnagIt to accomplish what you are asking. For example, I created the image below using SnagIt.

If you don't have SnagIt, you might consider RoboScreenCapture. It installs with RoboHelp. Click View > Pods > Toolbox.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I used Camtasia and then just captured the portion of the screen I needed.  Worked nicely.  However your suggestion of Snagit reminded me of a new 'find' --- JING.  It is also by Techsmith and makes both screen captures and videos and has the ability to add arrows, highlighting etc.  Give JING a try -- it is very useful. Even has a cloud repository which is handy.  Again, thanks for your help.
