Harm Millaard Sep 19, 2011 12:40 AM (in response to Luvfilm)Make sure that the stills have the same pixel dimensions as your sequence settings, both 1280 x 720 with a PAR (pixel aspect ratio) of 1.0 If needed you can use interpret footage for the stills.

Ann Bens Sep 19, 2011 12:48 AM (in response to Luvfilm)You pictures are to big for your sequence/timeline, right click on the still in the timeline and Scale to Frame Size or set it in your Preferences.

JSS1138 Sep 19, 2011 9:57 AM (in response to Luvfilm)This is a case of not having sufficient understanding of video in general, and how Premiere Pro works in particular. It's not a bad idea ot go through the entire Help file, from start to finish, before you actually use the program.
Here's are some other resources.
