1. Re: Acrobat can't access shared review data on WebDAV
masao suda Aug 30, 2011 11:22 PM (in response to masao suda)The above problem was solved tody.
Yesterday, I changed several Acrobat Preferences.
1. Security(Enhanced)
Add webdav host to Privileged Locations.
2. Trust Manager -> Internet Access ...
Click 'Change Settings...', then Allow webdav site address.
When i changed ( and applyed ) these settings, there are no effects.
Is it necessary to reboot the system?

AmbooS Aug 31, 2011 5:37 AM (in response to masao suda)A similar issue was fixed in Acrobat 10.1 patch. Download and install the patch from Adobe website and see if your issue is resolved.

I installed Acrobat Reader 10.1.0 on the above Mac (I didn't apply the patch). but the same problem reproduced with this Acrobat Reader.
( get the Dialog box which says "Acrobat cannot connect to the Review Server ..." )
Then I changed the following preferences, This problem has not been solved yet.
1. Security(Enhanced)
Add webdav host to Privileged Locations.
2. Trust Manager -> Internet Access ...
Click 'Change Settings...', then Allow webdav site address.
I verified the followings.
1. MacOSX Safari can't access to PDF(Shared Review) properly.
After the installing Adobe Reader 10.1.0, while loading pdf, progress bar of Acrobat Reader Plugin began to not progress (not finished to open).
When I open the PDF(not for Shared Review), Reader Plugin can open it correctly.
(I verified Safari's installed plugin setting for pdf is "Adobe Acrobat Plug-in, Version 10.1.0")
*I verified the following 2-4 with Firefox on MacOSX.
2. I checked http access log (of webdav server), but there are no access logs from (MacOSX's) Adobe Synchronizer.(I verified this when the firewall of MacOSX was disabled)
3. Access to PDF file is working properly (Acorobat Reader on MacOSX can display PDF (but shared review data are not)).
4. When I accessed from Windows XP(Acrobat Reader), like the following http access log has been recorded.
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - suda [22/Sep/2011:15:41:55 +0900] "GET /webdavtest/2/413/1/NEW_0003_review.pdf__735c6012134e4f9f9fbdebb4b9029b39/masao.suda.at.i nteraction-i.co.jp.xml HTTP/1.1" 304 - "-" "Mozilla/3.0 (compatible; Adobe Synchronizer 10.1.1)"
It seems that Adobe Synchronizer on MacOSX (Adobe Resource Synchronizer) doesn't work properly.
In the previous post. Once I (and my co-worker) verified this was solved certainly.
I found similar issue ( http://forums.adobe.com/thread/850377 ). was this problem solved?

4. Re: Acrobat can't access shared review data on WebDAV
AmbooS Sep 22, 2011 7:01 AM (in response to masao suda)Firefox browser is not a supported browser on Mac. Only Safari is supported. Please refer to the system requirements page at Adobe website for Reader X.
Can you please provide some more info:
1. What is your Mac OS language?
2. What happens if you copy the review file from WebDAV server to Mac and then try to open the PDF file in Safari? Does it still keep showing the progress bar and not render the PDF?
3. How did you initiate the shared review on WebDav - from Windows machine or a Mac?
thanks

5. Re: Acrobat can't access shared review data on WebDAV
Phillip Jones Sep 22, 2011 9:30 AM (in response to AmbooS)Yes and they also don't allow Thunderbird/SeaMonkey or emailing PDF or doing reviews. I don't like Safari I don't use Safari Nor do I like Mail as well . This is just another Adobe Thumbing there nose at Mac Users. The information that use to be posted about the review and emailing of PDF said required Mbox compliant. Yet Thundebird/SeaMonkey follow MBox standards to the letter.
The whole thing is they just don't want to bothered with support of an Gecko based products . Don't know why Adobe wants to make life a PIA for their Mac Customers. They need to rrememberf it wasn't for Apple and Mac customers there would be no such thing as Acrobat, Reader, PDF or things such Photoshop. Because all those early roducts got their start on Mac's 2-3 years before Windows would allow them. Mac Users were the Guinia pigs testing and working bugs out.

7. Re: Acrobat can't access shared review data on WebDAV
masao suda Sep 26, 2011 1:45 AM (in response to masao suda)I asked this problem Adobe tech support (in japan), but was not solved.
support stuff said there were no member with expertise of webdav, shared review..
I proposed them that i providing the resource url, and, test account for accessing it, but in vain.
After that, I tried to disabled Basic Auth (i use mod_auth_mysql) of apache http server, then progress bar problem didn't occur( Problem of progress bar seems to be authentication problem ).
This is a critical problem for us, because we will have to provide shared review system to our client who are using MacOSX.
Is there any workaround?

AmbooS Sep 26, 2011 2:48 AM (in response to masao suda)I havent tried on Japanese. Does it work for you on an English OS with English Acrobat/Reader, in case you have access to an English OS?

9. Re: Acrobat can't access shared review data on WebDAV
masao suda Sep 28, 2011 7:33 PM (in response to AmbooS)I wrote the following in previous post, but I didn't understood the behavior of shared review.
This problem occured both of via http and via https.
I verified this by changing apache "SSLRequireSSL" directive.
But, once PDF file is sent to webdav server via https, If I turned https(ssl) off, Resouce Synchronizer try to connect via https.(verified with tcpdump)
So, first I changed webdav setting(not require ssl), then sent to webdav server via http, then Acrobat on MacOSX could connect to the Review Server(webdav server).
Maybe this seems to be the Adobe Resource Synchronizer (on MacOSX(JP)) problem (or spec.?).
I think if client use MacOSX(JP), shared review (via Internet, using webdav) is useless because of the security reasons now.
I can't suggest shared review to my client until this problem will be solved.
