Is RH8 able to generate pdfs? I tried this: opened a project, then File>Generate>PDF (greyed out). See pic:

Hang on, you don't have to have Acrobat Pro. The PDF Add-on that ships with RoboHelp is sufficient.

RH has to go through an intermediary - Word, then you create the PDF from within Word

Either there will be an Acrobat menu/ribbon in Word or go to File / Print and pick the PDF printer there.

When you generated from RoboHelp you should also have seen a PDF check box. You could have produced it from there. However, producing in Word first and then generating the PDF gives you the chance to tidy up the document. It's unlikely page breaks would be quite where you want them and suchlike.

You should keep a test project for experimenting. That way you could try out the things that give you all these problems without risking damage to your real project. Being smaller it would also make things more obvious.

Not sure - the latest versions probably all would work. How were you expecting to produce a PDF if you didn't have Acrobat?

I wasn't aware the standalone version of RH had the "headless" version included either (I knew FM does & nobody particularly likes it)
