JSS1138 Sep 30, 2011 10:39 AM (in response to Bingo888)Your pairing old software with modern media. Don't do that. Upgrade to 5.5

Ann Bens Sep 30, 2011 3:08 PM (in response to JSS1138)This modern media was already around way before Premiere could handle it.
One had to wait for CS4 before it could handle avchd.
Bingo: Try Cineform works wonderfull well.

Christopher Duncan Oct 1, 2011 2:26 PM (in response to Bingo888)Bingo,
I second Ann's recommendation on Cineform, I bought it based on advice of her and others I respect here and have been happy with it.
Do be aware of one thing, however. While I can't speak to CS3, in CS4 I learned that Premiere doesn't correctly interpret the color space for the HD files (I"m probably not saying it correctly, the guys I learned it from here can explain better). The upshot is that what you get in Cineform will look much warmer than what you're seeing in Premeire, but the Cineform version is actually the correct interpretation.
With that caveat, highly recommended. Good stuff, and not terribly expensive.
