1. Re: Autodesk Graphics with Photoshop
musicartistdesigner2 Oct 8, 2011 11:12 PM (in response to dcacrobat)I use Autocad on a daily basis but have no clue about Photomerge 2012 and probably will never try it. PS7 & IR7 are two of my favorite programs and I use them almost daily also.
Sometimes when I build a site that I care not to hand code I'll actually draw the layers for a landing page or other pages in cad. Once I get everything like I want it in cad then I copy and paste each layer one at a time from Autocad into PS be it 7 or above. I then save each layer (design, menu or whatever) as a PSD file and then do the work on them.If one of the layers need animation then I use PS or I'll get the image like I want it in PS and save it as a jpg file. If PS can't do what I want it to do then I use Koolmoves to animate the image. Flash and Swish will do the same thing but Flash has a steep learning curve and I like Koolmoves over both of them. All three programs have 3d in them and sometimes I use it in Koolmoves.
If no one else on the forum can help you I would think maybe someone on an Autodesk forum that also uses Photomerge 2012 could help you.
Good luck

dcacrobat Oct 14, 2011 10:43 AM (in response to musicartistdesigner2)Musicartistdesigner2:
Much thanks for your timely reply. Actually, knowledge of SoftImage is not necessary to offer guidance. The two images I have must be prepped and aligned in Photoshop then imported into SoftImage. Images of the objects I will describe are online.
- The side view is of a 75 foot car and the 10ft ‘frontal’ view… that image is not truly straight on.
- The sided view is obscured by the railing and would want to digitally erase
- Took Some of the tutorial is condensed into a series of images uploaded to my personal online folder: https://skydrive.live.com/?sc=photos&cid=1727c265a60f257a#!/?cid=1727c265a60f257a&permissi onsChanged=1&id=1727C265A60F257A%21276!cid=1727C265A60F257A&id=1727C265A60F257A%21276&sc=p hotos
I have reviewed the tutorial and can do the following tasks:
- Change the grid from inches to pixels, drag the ‘rulers’ over the object image
- Size the image
- Enable ‘Snap to’ feature
Have not been able to ‘move’ the image in relation to ruler cross hairs seeking a center. The cursor in this context is a 4 - arrow
- Change color of the ‘cross hairs’ of the ruler when placed over an image
- The tutorial demonstrates an animation character in front and side view. It does not show, as in my case how to adjust the dimensions of one object to precisely match another. The frontal view of my railcar is much greater that the side view.
The entire process is actually seen in a tutorial on www.digitaltutors.com titled: “Preparing rotoscope images in Photoshop”. You certainly do not need the lessons but it includes Photoshop tutorials with the specific tutorial I am following. Registration is free.
I need to manipulate the side view so that the height of the rail car body matches that of the ‘frontal’ view.
Hoping you can share some of your expertise. I close
Cordially,
