1. Re: Premiere pro working with after effects
Colin Brougham Oct 14, 2011 7:09 AM (in response to cjacs987654)Dynamic Link has slowly gotten better and less... umm... forgetful. In my experience, it was randomly flaky in CS5 without much rationale.
Don't delete and re-import the DL'ed comp; instead, just select the offline comp footage item in the Project Panel, right-click, and select Link Media. In the dialog, navigate to your AE comp, and Pr should automatically reconnect to the proper comp.

JSS1138 Oct 14, 2011 5:18 PM (in response to cjacs987654)Here's how I do it, and have never had a comp go offline.
1. Create a Premier Pro project
2. From within Premiere Pro go to File>Dynamic Link>New After Effects Comp
3. Do what you need to in AE.
4. Drop the composition onto the timeline
5. Playback, all is ok
6. Save and close

Thanks for your reply.
Would that work if I already had a composition created? or just new comps?

JSS1138 Oct 15, 2011 10:52 AM (in response to cjacs987654)Just new comps.
But for those already created, for for step 2 you choose File>Dynamic Link>Import AE comp.
