Why doesn't the browser links work in Live View?

I have C5 Dreamweaver and have not been able to get the spry links to work in Live View before uploading files. I don't dare upload them until I can see they work.  I have never had problems with interacting with links in the older Dreamweaver versions (CS3) using Live View but then I've never used Spry either before. So am wondering if this is normal or something is wrong with my links not working correctly.
