Android Nook App

I am trying to download library books in the ePub format, transfer them to my Android phone and use the Nook App.  I have tried downloading the book to my computer, then opening ADE, plugging in my phone and transferring it to the nook folder on my phone.  When I try to open on my phone it gives the error, "Could not open book at this time.  Please try again later".  How do I read library ePub books on my Android phone with a nook app?
