Calling WebHelp search from a remote search box

We're using RoboHelp HTML version 9 and producing merged WebHelp.

Our engineering department wants to include a search field in our UI, and use it to search various sources. One source they want to be able to search is the merged WebHelp output we ship with the software. Is there a way to call the full-text search component of WebHelp from an external search box? Perhaps an API, or javascript control?

Thanks.

Hi,

There's no way I know of. You can open WebHelp with the search pane opened, but I don't know of a way to automatically start the WebHelp search. Let alone use those search results in a different system.

Perhaps Zoomsearch can help you out. See http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/zoomsearch/zoomsearch.htm

Greet,

Willam
