X82 Oct 16, 2011 10:00 AM (in response to X82)Well im here to bump this again, as its frustrating me to new levels.
It's happening alot now. MP4's with play perfectly on their own, are out of sync, sometimes by 15 minutes. What gives?
I'm not prepared to convert a 3gb mp4 file to an even larger wmv or avi so Prem Pro can read it ok.

John T Smith Oct 16, 2011 2:36 PM (in response to X82)>mp4 videos
How about some details?
Read Bill Hunt on a file type as WRAPPER http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037?tstart=0
What is a CODEC... a Primer http://forums.adobe.com/thread/546811?tstart=0
What CODEC is INSIDE that file? http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037?tstart=0
.
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below
.
For PC http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ or http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
For Mac http://mediainfo.massanti.com/
.
Once you know exactly what it is you are editing, report back with that information... and your project setting, and if there is a red line above the video in the timeline, which indicates a mismatch between video and project

6. Re: MP4 out of sync and only in Premier Pro.
JSS1138 Oct 17, 2011 10:26 AM (in response to X82)For starters, where exactly did you get the MP4 files?

7. Re: MP4 out of sync and only in Premier Pro.
CoachJason Oct 31, 2011 2:21 PM (in response to JSS1138)I'm having this exact same issue.
The .mp4 files are from a Flip Video HD Camera. They start out okay, and the longer the video, the more & more out of sync they get.
This is not an issue with any of my other files, it only happens with these .mp4's from the Flip.
Also - the .mp4 plays fine by just "playing" it in Windows Media Player...but as soon as Adobe is involved, in editing or final project, the synching issues arise.
I tried converting the file to an uncompressed AVI, f4v, and mpg, all through AME, and every one of them has the issue immediately after conversion. (and the issue shows up just trying to play the file after conversion - before it's even imported into Adobe Premiere Pro. I'm using version 5.0.3)
Here is the info from the "gspot" tool recommend above from "John T Smith":
Container:
MSNV: MPEG-4 (.MP4) for SonyPSP
- mp42: MP4 v2 [ISO 14496-14]
- isom: MP4 Base Media v1 [IS0 14496-12:2003]
Recommended Display Size: 1280 x 720
Created: 2011 Oct 29 09:42:45
Modified: 2011 Oct 29 09:42:45
Audio Codec:
mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC
44100Hz 131 kb/s tot , stereo (2/0)
Video Codec:
avc1
H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
Pics/sec:
30.000
Frames/sec:
30.000
Could it be possible because I'm trying to convert this to 29.97 fps, that's where the mis-syncing is happening? Premiere Pro actually tells me this file IS at 29.97, but the above tool is saying 30.00 pics & frames per sec. I'm going to re-try encoding in Premiere Pro at 30.00 frames/sec, and will report results here.

8. Re: MP4 out of sync and only in Premier Pro.
X82 Oct 31, 2011 2:24 PM (in response to CoachJason)I fixed my issue by switching to Sony Vegas 11. Sorry, but I'm not prepared to convert all my videos to some other format.

9. Re: MP4 out of sync and only in Premier Pro.
CoachJason Oct 31, 2011 2:27 PM (in response to X82)Honestly...I LOVE Premiere Pro CS5...I'm not prepared to switch to Sony. (and hopefully the fix isn't to first convert to some other format)
With that said, I do the majority of my shooting on a Canon HG10, and those all work perfectly in Premiere Pro CS5. I don't use my flip all that much...so if I *have* to convert, I will...but very last resort.

10. Re: MP4 out of sync and only in Premier Pro.
X82 Oct 31, 2011 2:28 PM (in response to X82)Oh no, don't get me wrong. Sony is a pain to use, and I miss Prem Pro. But i have alot of mp4's which don't play.

11. Re: MP4 out of sync and only in Premier Pro.
CoachJason Oct 31, 2011 3:17 PM (in response to X82)Rendering it in 30.00fps didn't solve it.
Let me know if you guys need any more information....I would love to be able to fix/address this issue!

12. Re: MP4 out of sync and only in Premier Pro.
JSS1138 Oct 31, 2011 6:39 PM (in response to CoachJason)My recommendation would be to use a professional video camera. Or at least something that actually has the AVCHD logo on the side.

Gigake Oct 30, 2012 5:55 AM (in response to CoachJason)I have the same problem.
MP4 video is from my phone Galaxy S2 and media player plays it fine.
But in Premiere 6 audio is 0,5 sec before the video :-(

Gigake Oct 31, 2012 1:49 PM (in response to Jeff Bellune)Thanks Jeff! This is one step closer, but still no help.
As I understand the problem is that Sequence doesn't match video - I am getting not the red but yellow line on the top of the video.
There's no correct new Sequence setting under available sequence presets. But whatever I select then it's saying that video doesn't match with the sequence and I select chance sequence settings (like automatically for me ). But this still doesn't help.
Also New sequence from clip AND Clip -> Audio options -> Render and replace - doesn't help.
The sound is out of the sync (sound is 1 sec before video) also in the preview window.
MP4 file is from the Galaxy S2:
File Path: D:\20121025_231904.mp4
Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 85,4 MB
Image Size: 1280 x 720
Frame Rate: 29,97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
Total Duration: 00:00:59:01
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,0
Premiere 6
What to try more ?? :-(

18. Re: MP4 out of sync and only in Premier Pro.
JSS1138 Oct 31, 2012 9:24 PM (in response to Gigake)This is not a solution.
That depends on your viewpoint. The directions in post 12 will resolve the issue. Premiere Pro wasn't designed to edit every possible type of video out there, so your best option is generally to shoot in a format that it does support. You take your chances using a camera that shoots in an unsupported format. Sometimes you get lucky and it works anyway, sometimes not.

OK, then it's quite clear. I just thought that so powerful tool should handle different kind of videos well.
Can you suggest me some freeware .MP4 -> ... converter what eats phonevidecamera videos and gives some good format for Premiere 6 ?

Warning: 'D:\Videod\2012\2012-10-25-28 - Rootsis Markil kylas\20121025_231904.mp4' track 0: The AVC video track is missing the 'CTTS' atom for frame timecode offsets. However, AVC/h.264 allows frames to have more than the traditional one (for P frames) or two (for B frames) references to other frames. The timecodes for such frames will be out-of-order, and the 'CTTS' atom is needed for getting the timecodes right. As it is missing the timecodes for this track might be wrong. You should watch the resulting file and make sure that it looks like you expected it to.
I tried mkvmerge. Can someone translate this warning to human-language? Is there some fix for that warning?
