Because otherwise LR pops up everytime you connect media to your computer.
The import dialog is OK and very easy to use.

Deep Woods Nov 1, 2011 11:27 AM (in response to c.frans w)Hello Frans,
But if I want it to pop up every time I connect media to my computer is there a way to make this happen? With the option checked it still doesn’t do it.

web-weaver Nov 1, 2011 11:36 AM (in response to Deep Woods)You say:
"Lr does not even show up in the Auto Play pop up window."
Are you sure?
In AutoPlay there are two drop-down menus. In the one on the top you have to select <Pictures>. After you did that in the second drop-down menu called "Actions" there should be the option <LR - Import photos>. If it does, select <Take no Action> and click on <Apply>.
If you really can't see LR, you best use a card reader instead of connecting the camera to the computer.

4. Re: Auto Open on Device Connect
Deep Woods Nov 7, 2011 1:54 PM (in response to web-weaver)Hello,
Still a strange inconsistency I do not understand. The Auto Play pop up that comes up when the camera is connected definitely does not display Lightroom, nor is there an option to view more auto play options. However, when the memory card is inserted through a memory card reader, I can select Lightroom from the auto play menu. I am not sure why the camera does not generate Lightroom in the auto play list. I am using a Canon Rebel XS.
Any ideas,
DW
