unique_screenname_here Nov 6, 2011 10:05 AM (in response to empiboy)What OS and what graphics card are you running? Have you installed the latest vendor-supplied graphics driver for your graphics card? What are the dimensions in pixels of the images you are trying to process? Have you tried 64-bit Pixel Bender in 64-bit Photoshop?

empiboy Nov 6, 2011 7:33 PM (in response to unique_screenname_here)hi...the OS version I'm using is: 10.6.8...the graphics card is: Intel HD Graphics 3000. the dimensions of the image i'm editing is huge (direct coversion of raw file to jpeg) so it's around 8-10MP. nope, haven't tried the 64bit pixel bender version on my mac. i've got a feeling that the image quality that i'm using in pixel bender is too big. that said, what's the biggest image dimension should i use on pixel bender 32 bit?
thanks for the reply unique_screename_here

empiboy Nov 6, 2011 11:51 PM (in response to empiboy)thanks for the tip regarding the image size, unique_screenname_here...i processed an image which is around 1000 pixels on the longest side...no more problem with the image! already can view it as I process in pixel bender.

unique_screenname_here Nov 7, 2011 12:58 PM (in response to empiboy)Glad to hear you've got things working. In theory, you should be able to process much larger images although in practice that may not be the case. Are you using a MacBook or a MacBook Air?

empiboy Nov 7, 2011 3:42 PM (in response to unique_screenname_here)@ unique_screen_name: i guess i have to try different image sizes to know the maximum size my mac could handle. i'm using a 13" macbook pro, btw

unique_screenname_here Nov 7, 2011 4:30 PM (in response to empiboy)Yeah, sorry I can't give you an exact answer. Apple's "OpenGL Capabilities Tables" (http://developer.apple.com/graphicsimaging/opengl/capabilities/GLInfo_1068.html) state that the MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE for your card is 8192 pixels. However, the Pixel Bender plugin will limit you to 128MB so you'd only be able to reach 8192 in one dimension. We've also found that the graphics drivers often tend to fail well below the MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE--I'd guess that a more realistic texture size limit for your graphics card is probably 4096. In any case, play with it and see how things go.

empiboy Nov 7, 2011 11:53 PM (in response to unique_screenname_here)at least I have a guide now (4096 pixels) ...i'll try processing and increasing pixel size 'till i get to know the limit. thanks again!
