Mylenium Nov 10, 2011 7:34 AM (in response to prescovidprod)Yes, people use Nulls and parenting to isolate individual motion. Basic principles of rigging... Look up some 3D tutorials and apply the techniques to AE.

prescovidprod Nov 10, 2011 7:40 AM (in response to Mylenium)Thanks for the speedy reply, Mylenium.
Sorry I didn't mention that. I tried to keyframe the movement of the the null layer that was parented to the camera layer as well as trying to animate the camera on its own.
Every time i tried to create smooth movement with keyframes, it started to behave strange.
I cant find a video anywhere that addresses this. I have looked far and wide.

3. Re: Keyframing Camera Movement on Multiple Axis with Multiple Speeds Simultaneously
prescovidprod Nov 10, 2011 7:47 AM (in response to Mylenium)I can execute the movement just fine when it is all horizontal, or all vertical.
It is only when I try to move in, out, or around the same time that it begins to behave in a way that is out of synch with the movement as a whole.

Mylenium Nov 10, 2011 7:54 AM (in response to prescovidprod)Not sure what you are describing. Looks like you simply need to spend some time in the graph editor and understand AE's admittedly odd concept of keeping temporal and spatial data for position properties separate...

Rick Gerard Nov 10, 2011 8:28 AM (in response to Mylenium)I think you're experiencing ping-ponging from the spatial interpolation. You have two options. One option is to select the pen tool, then hover over the problematic keyframe in the composition window, hold down the Alt/Option key to bring up the convert point tool, then click on the keyframe. Another option is to select the problematic keyframe and then right click to bring up keyframe interpolation and select linear from the spatial properties. Another option would be to change the settings in Preferences to have spatial keyframes default to linear.
