The default ASL files can be found in the following location:
On Windows C: Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Presets\Styles
Program Files (X86) for 64 bit systems
On Mac go to Applications.
After I copy and paste the "asl" file into the "styles" folder, what do I do next? I can't see the new file when I open Elements.
You may need to re-boot your computer.
If the reboot doesn't do it, try deleting the file MediaDatabase.d3.
In Windows 7/Vista, go to C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\en_US (this path is different if you aren’t in the United States), and delete MediaDatabase.db3 to refresh the list of presets. In XP, it’s in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\ Locale\en_us (or your location). In Mac OS X, it’s [your hard drive]>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Photoshop Elements>10.0 >Locale> en_US (or your location). The next time you start the editor don't do anything till the thumbnails reappear in the panels.
I'm new to this forum, so bear with me.
I got Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.0 with a purchase of a printer. It installed correctly and it is semi-usable (which is another topic). However, I want to install new layer styles into the program and have followed all the above instructions. However, I do not have the "MediaDatabase.db3" file anywhere on my hard disc drive. I've copied and pasted all the new .asl files to the correct path for Windows 7 64bit. Rebooted the computer, and I'm just given the pre-installed styles. Does anyone have a solution to this? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
