2. Re: selecting color with brush tool
vinsolo Nov 15, 2011 12:29 PM (in response to Jeffrey Tranberry)i suppose i did not make my self clear, jeffrey.
i want to place the brush on the image, click and pick up that color as foreground. that is, i want to use a specific color already contained in the image as a foreground color.
and, by the way, using the ctrl+opt+cmd keys, still gives me a background color.
i should have said that i use imac and lion.
thanks for your reply.

3. Re: selecting color with brush tool
Jeffrey Tranberry Nov 15, 2011 1:03 PM (in response to vinsolo)strange. The Option key should activate the eyedropper and clicking should produce a change in the foreground color. If you the letter i instead of option, does that sample to produce a new foreground color?

4. Re: selecting color with brush tool
vinsolo Nov 15, 2011 2:10 PM (in response to Jeffrey Tranberry)no, jeffrey, using the letter "I" still produces a background color, at least as indicated by the foreground/background tool in the tool bar.
i should have noted that, once i select the eyedropper tool, i must then option click on a color to have it become the foreground color. other wise, just clicking with the eyedropper produces a background color.
any suggestions? (desperately asked)
thanks for your continued efforts.

5. Re: selecting color with brush tool
Wade_Zimmerman Nov 15, 2011 2:38 PM (in response to vinsolo)What Jeffrey is tellig you is that while you have the Brush tool slected if you then hold the Option key down you get the eyedropper tool that will sample the color dorectly under it as the foregrund color. No need to hold the I key at all.
Brush tool hold the Option Key down and then sample you now have that color as the foreground color.

6. Re: selecting color with brush tool
vinsolo Nov 15, 2011 2:45 PM (in response to Wade_Zimmerman)thank you so much for replying.
actually, my problem is that holding the option key while i have the brush tool active, in fact, gives me a BACKGROUND COLOR.
this was not always this way and i would very much appreciate advice as to how to return to the "default" response to holding the option key and clicking with the brush tool active.
again, thank you so very much for taking the time to reply.
