1. Re: Need advice: How to add markers in one long dance chapter or section
Stan Jones Nov 16, 2011 10:13 AM (in response to nefl777)Make the Dance chapter its own sequence in PR; then its own timeline in Encore. Add the "chapter markers every x" there.
a Marker is nothing more than a marker used only by me, the editor, while a Chapter Marker is used by Encore and is a chapter on the DVD. is that right? In other words, a "marker" is not used by the DVD viewer. Do I have that right?
Yes.

nefl777 Nov 16, 2011 10:33 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Thanks for taking the time to answer, Stan!
I also thought about a separate timeline but I've never worked with 2 timelines on one Encore project. My methodology is to "send to encore" the entire video with 1 timeline.
So, once I got into Encore with my project, minus the timeline for the dances, would I import to Encore ? what file type would the timeline be?
thanks again!

Bill Hunt Nov 16, 2011 10:39 AM (in response to nefl777)You are correct that there are several types of Markers in PrPro.
If I read your needs correctly, and you are going to deliver a DVD (not a BD), then you can use the Encore Chapter Markers, and then create several different Chapter Playlists, and each of those can display the Chapters in the order that you decide on, plus each Chapter Playlist can have its own End Action. You would then link to the Chapter Playlists from separate Buttons, yielding different navigation from your Menu(s).
If I missed something, I apologize.
Good luck,
Hunt

Go to Encore, then File -> Adobe dynamic link -> Import PR Sequence.
You can add as many sequences as you wish.
If, for example, you wanted the dance sequence to be in the middle of the whole movie, you cou ld have 3 sequence in PR (pre-dance content, dance content, and post-dance content). You set the chapter markers in PR for the first and last sequences, and set the markers in EN for the dance sequence.
In EN, you have 3 timelines. You create "play all" in EN by creating a playlist with timelines 1, 2, and 3.

5. Re: Need advice: How to add markers in one long dance chapter or section
Stan Jones Nov 16, 2011 11:23 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)Hunt, I think that info is useful, but his main question was how to add markers every x amount of time in the dance section of his movie. I think the easiest way to do that is to make it a separate PR sequence.
