Yes very helpful,
Have signed up for the apple forums and waiting for answer but seeing as all the files we create at work are adobe related files i thought it worth a try asking here.

It is worth asking here. While this is a forum for InDesign, our users have a lot of expertise in many things, and most of them are more than willing to share waht they know about any subject when asked. I also think this forum is a lot friendlier than many others, and contains a lot less garbage than most other forums I've visited. Itis a good idea, though, when posing a question not strictly related to ID to preface the topic title with OT: for Off Topic, but you certainly made your needs clear.
I'm a Windows user, not Mac so I can't offer anything useful in terms of a solution, but I'm interested to see if you get an answer, and if it comes iin faster here or at apple.
Thank you peter,
Also I would just like to know if this is normal behavour for this kind of setup.
Until a year ago I was totally PC based and am still learning about the mac systems.
It all came down to Ownership not shareing or perrmissions.
For anyone that might need to know:
in the get info dialog select the "Ignore ownership on this volume"
You where right the people over in the apple forums where very helpful
