Flash player will not initialize

Win XP sys32 :  Was able to download and execute flashplayer but received msg " failure to initialize".  Tried deleting old flash folder but could not delete NPSWF32. suggestions?

Try running the uninstaller, then the installer, both from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550
