1. Re: WOT (way off topic): Site appearance
Chris Cox Nov 21, 2011 1:40 PM (in response to Cindy Johnston)Yeah, that's not right, but it looks like a browser rendering problem.

2. Re: WOT (way off topic): Site appearance
RenéG Nov 21, 2011 1:51 PM (in response to Cindy Johnston)You're on a Mac?
You must have an Helvetica Outline font turned on (or Helvetica Neue Outline).
Turn it off and the problem should disappear.

Cindy Johnston Nov 21, 2011 1:54 PM (in response to RenéG)Yes, a Mac. I was told once to empty the cache and restart, but no joy.
Would I turn that font off in Font Book?

You mean you turned it off last week?
Have a look again, it might have turned itself ON again.

15. Re: WOT (way off topic): Site appearance
Cindy Johnston Nov 28, 2011 10:33 AM (in response to RenéG)I looked, it's off. Anyone know if Safari would be easy to contact about this?

16. Re: WOT (way off topic): Site appearance
RenéG Nov 28, 2011 10:43 AM (in response to Cindy Johnston)Then, I'd look through all of your fonts in your Font Management application and look for another "Outline" font that's ON.
Are you using only Font Book as your Font Management application? If you're using another Font Management program you will have to look there too.

17. Re: WOT (way off topic): Site appearance
Cindy Johnston Nov 28, 2011 10:48 AM (in response to RenéG)Font Book is what I'm using. I'll look for other outlined fonts I might've added lately.

18. Re: WOT (way off topic): Site appearance
RenéG Nov 28, 2011 1:27 PM (in response to Cindy Johnston)Somebody gave an explanation of what's happening here:
http://doctype.com/browsers-showing-h1-text-outlines
"I encountered a similar issue to what Lee experienced, except that my situation was resolved by deactivating the Helvetica Neue Bold Outline face. Because of the way the font file is named, it gets loaded before regular Helvetica Neue Bold — if you notice, the fonts getting outlined are all bold-faced fonts.
There are a few bugs open for Safari and Firefox that address this issue - it looks like FF 3.5 resolves it, but Safari 4 still has the issue."
