I have an HP netbook with a 32 bit Linux based HP quick start homepage. It is very convenient for quick internet access. However, more and more sites require a version of flash player that I do not have. Whenever I try to download a new version of flash player I am only given the option of "save" (to a flash drive, not my hard drive) or "cancel".
The HP support forums might be a better place to post your question. They're more likely to know whether you can update software on the Linux shell: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html
