That sounds like it could be a a problem reading the disc.
Can you copy the entire disc contents to a temporary folder on your hard drive successfully, and do the install from there?
I agree with Noel. this could even be a problem with the drive being worn out/ damaged or at least not properly integrated in teh system. Definitely also check your device manager...
thanks for the suggestions. i tried to copy the contents of the folder and got some errors about some files not being found and then when i looked at "my computer" the dvd drive had disappeared. so i moved the optical drive to another slot and swapped out the ide cable and now it seems to be installing.
now i was able to copy the entire contents of the dvd to my desktop, and since that worked i attempted the install from the dvd. as stated above everything seemed to be going fine but now it says installation completed
some problems occured during istallation. Please see below
successfully installed: 1 component(s):
Errors: 2 component(s):
Adobe Photoshop CS3
component install failed
Component install failed
i guess now i try to install from the folder on my desktop.
this is wierd: if i use setup.exe in the adobe cs3 folder it keeps asking me to put the disc in, why would it do that if it's installing from the desktop?
You could try running it from a folder that has no spaces in the path, e.g., C:\TEMP
Other than that, I have no ideas.
ok i have finally figured out that indeed it was the optical drive malfunctioning. i swapped it out for another and the install worked fine. thanks to all who put thought into this for me.
