    Hello, good evening

    Juergen Dohrn Community Member

      I have a slight problem with Bridge CS5 (Windows 7 / 64):

      I want to rename some files and keep the "old" name in the metadata;

      though I have checked the box "preserve file name" in the formular in order to preserve the old filename in the metadata,

      the files are copied and renamed but when I look at the field "preserved file name" in the metadata of the copied files this entry is empty.   ?????

      What do I do wrong or have I forgotten to do something elsewhere?

      Thanks for any help

          Played around with this a little but have to move on to something else.  But here is what you can try.

          When I did a batch rename of a jpeg the presserved filename did not show up.

          Used a .nef that had a XMP with and it worked.

          Took jpeg and did some adjustments in ACR and then clicked save as.  Batch rename showed preserved file name.

          So bottom line it workes with an xmp file, but not straight jpeg for me.

          Perhaps you can figure it out, or someone else can jump in and provide the missing link.

            I gave it a try with TIF and JPEG - no problem.

            Sorry, don't know what's wrong on your side.
