1. Re: Elements 10 - How to mimic offset/gamma exposure/exposure?
photodrawken Dec 19, 2011 1:31 PM (in response to Ikeshima)Without seeing a before & after example of what you're trying to achieve, I'd suggest a two-step process: Enhance...Adjust Color...Adjust Hue/Saturation followed by Enhance...Adjust Lighting...Levels.
You can also apply those same adjustments by creating the appropriate adjustment layers in the Layers Palette. This is the preferred method since it's non-destructive and allows editing the effect at a later time.

hatstead Dec 19, 2011 1:47 PM (in response to photodrawken)Have a look at File>open as>camera raw.
You may be able to achieve the effect via this route.

Ikeshima Dec 20, 2011 11:54 AM (in response to photodrawken)Thanks for the reply.
However this isn't providing the same effect as using the Offset in CS5. One of the ways to achieve the desaturated movie-like effect is to first desaturate, then by the use of the offset decrease the offset slightly and boost the exposure in the same window. This has the effect of increasing contrast and boosting the unsaturated colours (which you have just desaturated) to a very cool movie like effect; think modern movies with heaps of blues and browns.
I've been through the various options and to no avail I just can't mimic the effect.

R_Kelly Dec 20, 2011 12:01 PM (in response to Ikeshima)Do you have a before and after example of the effect you can post or a link to a tutorial that shows the effect you want?

photodrawken Dec 20, 2011 1:19 PM (in response to Ikeshima)OK, see my post regarding darkening colours:

Experiment with the Opacity setting for the HighPass layer, and I think you'll get what you're looking for. You can always add a Hue/Saturation layer to the background layer first to slightly desaturate the image.

Ikeshima Dec 20, 2011 1:52 PM (in response to photodrawken)Thanks a billion Ken!
Your method provides me with just what I'm looking for, without some of the artifacts that the offset method brings.
Cheers.
