1. Re: Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync
bigmanfontu Dec 8, 2011 12:54 AM (in response to bigmanfontu)I just confirmed it is definitely the timeline feature of Adobe Encore. Any reasons this is happening?

Stan Jones Dec 8, 2011 5:43 AM (in response to bigmanfontu)Delay is not normal for conforming assets. So how/what did you confirm about the timeline feature?
What is your source footage?

3. Re: Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync
bigmanfontu Dec 8, 2011 4:47 PM (in response to Stan Jones)I confirmed that the timeline feature is the cause of the audio delay. I confirmed it by using two other programs; Nero Vision and DVDit Pro Hd. Both of which had no audio delay while using their respective timelines.
I also went back and created a new DVD project using Encore and the timeline worked fine. It seems to be isolated to timelines in blurry projects.
I'm using video that I ripped from a DVD using DVD shrink to keep the movie intact. And then I demuxed the video and audio using pgcdemux.
When I re-mux both streams together into an mpeg file, they play fine. But as soon as I load them into a timeline into encore they get this audio lag.
Suggestions?

4. Re: Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync
Stan Jones Dec 8, 2011 9:19 PM (in response to bigmanfontu)Is each movie on its own timeline? (I assume yes.)
You are bringing in a wav. But it is a wav that is demuxed by pgcdemux from a dvd shrink rip. And then transcoded by Encore to your audio preference for this project.
I don't know what to suggest; something about the process is giving Encore something it is mishandling.

5. Re: Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync
bigmanfontu Dec 9, 2011 7:01 PM (in response to Stan Jones)There is one thing I haven't tried. While I have demuxed the movies into the seperate video and audio streams, and I have run the video portion; the .m2v/.m4v file through adobe media encoder, I have not put the audio portion through it.
Do you think I should run the .wav file through adobe media encoder with the same settings I used for my blu-ray compatible video file?

6. Re: Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync
Stan Jones Dec 9, 2011 7:34 PM (in response to bigmanfontu)Give it a try. The "same settings" doesn't work, since the video and audio settings are different.

7. Re: Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync
bigmanfontu Dec 9, 2011 9:39 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Well yeah, I know it isn't the same settings since it's audio and not video.
But I tried re-encoding the audio through adobe media encoder, and this audio delay is still there. It doesn't happen throughout the entire movie, but only about halfway through it when I skip chapters on the timeline. I tried pulling the scrubber to the designated point and the audio always lags in the same spot as well.
I then deleted my source material and ripped and demuxed it again. And then I re-encoded hoping for something. However, the audio still becomes delayed at this certain point. I don't know what else to do. It's sad.

8. Re: Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync
bigmanfontu Dec 9, 2011 10:05 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Quick question about length as well. If the video stream is longer than the audio, or vice-versa, could that throw the audio out of sync? We're not talking a few minutes, but like 5 or 6 seconds of length difference?
-
9. Re: Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync
Stan Jones Dec 10, 2011 5:11 AM (in response to bigmanfontu)Yes, length differences will create sync problems.
I would also look carefully at the characteristics of the original rip and any other conversions with mediainfo or the like.

10. Re: Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync
Bill Hunt Dec 16, 2011 3:19 PM (in response to bigmanfontu)Now, MPEG Audio can end up being a bit longer than its accompanying Video, but this is in milliseconds (Audio Units), and not by 5- 6 secs. That is strange, and would agree that something is wrong.
Good luck,
Hunt

11. Re: Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync
bigmanfontu Dec 20, 2011 8:30 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Yeah I have tried literally everything I can think of.
I think it might just be that the original dvd has issues. I just don't know. It seems to demux well. Streams play seperately fine. I'm able to load the .m2v file into VLC and it will run smoothly and go. But as soon as I put it into a project and timeline in Encore, the video seems to play normally at first but then it plays slightly faster and then the audio becomes out of sync.
I'm going to attempt to make a much smaller bluray composition with short 10 - 15 second clips and see if the issue remains. If so, I'll upload the files online and could someone here take a look at them and see if it works for them?

14. Re: Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync
Stan Jones Feb 14, 2012 8:18 AM (in response to bigmanfontu)Your video of the problem is consistent with your description.
Your timeline is 6 seconds shorter than your assets. That seems significant. I don't know why, but continue to believe that there is a problem with the video and/or audio asset.
Your audio is 2 frames shorter than the video. That does not seem significant, except that in the context of the problems, and the timeline length difference.
I'll also note that this is one, very long asset. The DVD you started with, by the nature of DVDs, was composed of many shorter vobs. I would look at the original rips with mediainfo and try to sort out what is off.

15. Re: Adobe Encore Blu-Ray audio out of sync
bigmanfontu Jun 11, 2012 1:33 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Well it certainly has been a while!
So I finally got this to work. It would seem that I spent so much time trying to rip and convert the dvd to their elementary source files: .m2v and .wav and since I was working with dvds, the files were quite large.
I actually loaded up a program called DVDFab and ripped each dvd into m2ts fomat. Those files were, still, quite a few gigabytes a piece, as they are essentially rips of the dvds in a special blu-ray container format.
They loaded directly into Encore and I didnt even have to use Adobe Media Encoder before loading them. And this time when I actually built my blu-ray, I received no errors. So everything output fine.
thanks for the help!
