1. Re: Files won't open from Bridge to PS
Curt Y Dec 29, 2011 9:12 AM (in response to denthelens)They should have CS5 rather than none if you want it to open in PS.
Of course not all files open in PS. Video files can open in Quicktime or program on your choice.
First I would go to bottom of File Associations page and click radio button "reset to default associations" unless you have it set up for your own defaults.

denthelens Dec 29, 2011 10:36 AM (in response to Curt Y)Thank you Curt for your reply, I have tried to reset to defaults but when I do the window clears everything so I have cancelled out rather than accept, when I say clears everything I mean just that , all the list disappears, is this normal?

3. Re: Files won't open from Bridge to PS
Curt Y Dec 29, 2011 11:21 AM (in response to denthelens)Have never had to need to try the reset button, but seems a little strange.
If you do not have a lot of extensions to change you can do it manually.
Say take .jpeg extenstion and click browse and navigate to PS (the .exe file). Try one and see how it works.

4. Re: Files won't open from Bridge to PS
Curt Y Dec 29, 2011 11:50 AM (in response to denthelens)Have you tried resetting preferences? If not hold down the Ctrl key and start Bridge. You will get a reset window with 3 options.

denthelens Dec 29, 2011 12:07 PM (in response to Curt Y)Thank you Curt problem solved, but now the problem is: how did my psd. files default to Quicktime when I didn't change anything to make it happen? Anyway I am up and running thanks to you.

denthelens Dec 29, 2011 12:09 PM (in response to denthelens)If this should happen again could I re-install Bridge? and would it cure the problem?

7. Re: Files won't open from Bridge to PS
Curt Y Dec 29, 2011 1:13 PM (in response to denthelens)You did not say what fixed it. If it was resetting preferences, no a reinstall will not affect this file.
Somethimes correpted cache will cause weird problems.

8. Re: Files won't open from Bridge to PS
denthelens Dec 30, 2011 5:12 AM (in response to Curt Y)I tried holding Ctrl and opening Bridge but did not get a reset window so I went into preference/file type and all the files assn. had been cleared so I browsed to Adobe/CS5/Photoshop exe and reinstalled the neccessary. However the JPG was clear but still opened in PS, mystery or what.

9. Re: Files won't open from Bridge to PS
denthelens Dec 30, 2011 11:50 AM (in response to denthelens)I have just used Lightroom and tried to edit a psd file in PS but the "Edit in CS5" is greyed out, could this be connected?

10. Re: Files won't open from Bridge to PS
Curt Y Dec 30, 2011 12:32 PM (in response to denthelens)Have never used Lightroom so hard to say.
Since something happened to Bridge the same event could have affected Lightroom.
Since you tried holding Ctrl and opening Bridge but did not get a reset window if this happens again work with this until it works.
May have to reset preferences in Lightroom but do not know what the keystroke it for that. Might have to go the the Lightroom forum.
