jshie123 Dec 30, 2011 7:28 AM (in response to Spanza456)I hope you get an answer soon as I now have the exact same thing happening. Mine isn't stopping on the Kubota Actions though, rather the Imaginomics plugin. Waiting for a callback from Adobe. Will post my fix if I get one. Maybe it will help you too.

bubaseball28 Dec 30, 2011 8:16 AM (in response to Spanza456)You guys are not alone... I am in the same boat. I uninstalled the Kubota Dashboard and then Photoshop would open, but as soon as I reinstalled Kubota Dashboard it freezes when I try to open photoshop again.

timhillphoto Dec 30, 2011 9:14 AM (in response to Spanza456)I'm now having the same problem. What version of Photoshop are you guys running? I'm running CS4. Kubota stuff is great - but it's caused me so many headaches at the same time!

5. Re: photoshop freezing at start up
Spanza456 Dec 30, 2011 9:20 AM (in response to timhillphoto)I am running CS5. So could you unistall kubota and reinstall it again. I was not sure if there was a limit to installing it.

6. Re: photoshop freezing at start up
jshie123 Dec 30, 2011 9:30 AM (in response to timhillphoto)Tim,
I agree that Kubota has some great stuff but does create too many headaches for me. Adobe had me remove the Kubota plugin file called "Kubota Dashboard 3.0.plugin" and everything works just fine. The only problem I had after that was my worspace settings were gone and I could not retrieve them so I had to reload my actions. Sorry Kubota, you won't be making the cut this time. I need Photoshop more than I need Kubota actions.
By the way, are you the one in the Doug Gordon Group?

timhillphoto Dec 30, 2011 9:36 AM (in response to jshie123)Yes - that's me! Hi Jim!
I don't know why Kubota can't figure this stuff out. I've been having problems with this stuff on and off for more than a year now.

9. Re: photoshop freezing at start up
timhillphoto Dec 30, 2011 9:39 AM (in response to timhillphoto)Uninstalling Dashboard 3 did the trick for me as well. They must have done something recently to cause this latest batch of problems though. I wonder what it was and if it will get resolved.
-
10. Re: photoshop freezing at start up
timhillphoto Dec 30, 2011 10:00 AM (in response to Spanza456)Uninstalling Dashboard 3 will get your photoshop working again - but you won't have the dashboard. You can still run your actions through the actions palette though... as long as you've loaded them there.

11. Re: photoshop freezing at start up
Spanza456 Dec 30, 2011 10:45 AM (in response to timhillphoto)Do you know if there is a limit to uploading the actions. I would not mind them in my action palette. Do you know the easy way to do this? So it must be the dashboard that is causing the problems?

12. Re: Photoshop freezing at start up because of Kubota plugins
stephhuntphoto Dec 30, 2011 12:07 PM (in response to Spanza456)Happening to me as well - late last night...I didn't realize Kubota was the problem until I watched the launch and where it started to freeze. Then I googled "kubota plugin photoshop won't open" and found this thread. I tried chatting with Adobe, but no help there since I'm running CS4. Hope Kubota get this resolved soon. Photoshop won't lauch on my iMac or on my laptop.

13. Re: photoshop freezing at start up
timhillphoto Dec 30, 2011 1:32 PM (in response to Spanza456)I'm not sure if there is a limit to uploading the actions. I'm realizing that even though I own 4 (I think) different sets - I only have one set installed in my actions palette. I'll have to find the discs and see if I can get the others on my computer.
@stephhuntphoto - I'm running CS4 also. Deleting the plug in will allow you to at least use photoshop until Kubota figures out a patch. I feel like I accidentally hit "update" on the actions palette last night (which sits right below the apply button) and that's when the problems began.

maggicc03 Dec 30, 2011 1:52 PM (in response to Spanza456)I'm having the same problem!! I just stumbled upon this thread after searching for why this is happening....strange how we're all having the SAME PROBLEM ON THE SAME DAY...weird.

CAMACM Dec 30, 2011 2:38 PM (in response to Spanza456)I am also having the same problem! What are the odds - I'm so relieved to see this thread. I thought I was losing my mind? Everything worked fine yesterday. Also was disappointed that Kubota is out of the office. I don't really know how to uninstall the dashboard. I LOVE these actions and hate to lose them.

David Blake1 Dec 30, 2011 2:56 PM (in response to CAMACM)After a very frustrating day thinking what have I done...??? am I relieved to find I am not alone!!! It looks to me that Mr Kubota Image Tools is going to have gbh of the earhole come the 3rd January...
Joking aside it's not good when you pay good money for things and they don't work quite like they say on the tin!!
I'll keep my eye on this thread over the next few days see if anything crops up... look forward to getting it fixed!!
Seems a bit ......... but Happy New Year anyway!!!!

Steve36Jones Dec 30, 2011 3:01 PM (in response to Spanza456)Hi
I am experiencing exactly the same and CS5 freezes on startup when it gets to the kubota plugins. I cant get in to the program to disable the plugin.
Not a very happy guy with this

19. Re: Photoshop freezing at start up because of Kubota plugins
stephhuntphoto Dec 30, 2011 3:13 PM (in response to Steve36Jones)Yes, there's just no way this is a coincidence...it has to be something going on within Kubota! I submitted a "head's up" as to what's going on via the contact form on Kubota's site. This thread was a HUGE relief to me as well. I've spent the last 24 hours freaking out. To top it off, Adobe CHARGES $40 to troubleshoot on past versions of Photoshop, which I find absurd. We pay crazy amounts of money for this program. I'm only running CS4! Geez! Granted, it looks like this is not an Adobe issue, but it involves their program. Wish they were a little more accomodating.
BUT...I did find a way to use photoshop instead of removing the dashboard altogether...a workaround is to start your computer in "safe mode" (my computers are Mac's, so I'm not sure if there in an option for PC). When I did that, Photoshop pulled right up. And I WAS able to use the dashboard. Of course, this can only be a temporary fix, but at least it allows you to edit if necessary. Hopefully this will give a clue to Kubota as to what's going on.
Guess we'll see! But, yes, HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!

stephhuntphoto Dec 30, 2011 3:16 PM (in response to CAMACM)@CAMACM try booting in safe mode and then launching Photoshop. Worked for me. I was able to rush edit a few images for a client. Hope this helps.

21. Re: Photoshop freezing at start up because of Kubota plugins
steven I ross Dec 30, 2011 3:19 PM (in response to Spanza456)Same thing for me today- running CS4 with OS 10.6.8. If you remove the Plug-in from the Photoshop plug-in folder, you will have a temp. fix and Photoshop will boot. I suspect that the Dashboard Plug-in tries to contact the Kubota Server, which may be off line.
They are gone for the Holiday. I submitted a ticket to Tech Support. Do not bother reinstalling the Plug-in.

3happyfamily Dec 30, 2011 3:20 PM (in response to Spanza456)Mine is doing the exact same thing, it gets "hung" on the Kubota Dashboard. I have tired everything for about the past hour and half. Including calling Kubota, not open until Tuesday, from December 22.

24. Re: Photoshop freezing at start up because of Kubota plugins
stephhuntphoto Dec 30, 2011 3:24 PM (in response to 3happyfamily)If you need to use Photoshop, start your computer in SAFE MODE. Photoshop will lauch and you can use your actions - good temporary fix until Kubota figures this out.

stephhuntphoto Dec 30, 2011 3:57 PM (in response to steven I ross)@stevenIross Or you can simply start in SAFE MODE and you won't lose your actions (at least if you're on a Mac). Worked like a charm for me.

jshie123 Dec 30, 2011 4:17 PM (in response to steven I ross)Oh I won't be reinstalling the dashboard. Not again. There security causes way too many issues for me. The actions pallette works great. Now all I need to do is find the action set to load it in.

DonnaG13 Dec 30, 2011 8:14 PM (in response to Spanza456)WOW! I can't believe this is happening to all of you too! I freaked out. It was working fine yesterday and I've been blaming my Mac all day, but apparently it's the Kubota palette. I uninstalled it and BAM PS worked, I'm in
CS5. So I did my small edits, but miss my Daily Multivitamin for sure. Hope there's a fix!

35. Re: Photoshop freezing at start up because of Kubota plugins
ptbkho Dec 31, 2011 12:34 AM (in response to Spanza456)I discovered a temporary fix. The problem is with the Kubota license server. When PS starts up, it checks the server for a valid license before the Dashboard will launch. By disconnecting your WiFi connection, this check will be bypassed, PS will start and the Dashboard will be functional. You can turn WiFi back on after PS is launched. This worked for me on OS X Lion with PS CS4. Hope this works for you.
Have a happy and safe New Year.

39. Re: Photoshop freezing at start up because of Kubota plugins
jshie123 Dec 31, 2011 3:19 AM (in response to Spanza456)I certainly understand Kubota wanting his products secure to stop people from stealing them but the thing that bothers me the most is why would he make it so that Photoshop won't load if there is a problem somewhere? I wouldn't have a problem at all if the Kubota dashboard wouldn't load. At least then I could still work. There are so many other choices out there right now for actions that don't cuase problems like this. I have also heard of a friend who was in an airport with her laptop and couldn't connect to the wi-fi, therfore she had this same issue. That's not right to assume everyome will be connected to the Internet all the time. Like I said if people want this product bad enough then make it so it won't stop Photoshop from loading if you aren't connected, just the actions won't work. That may pacify a lot of people but that would still be unacceptable in my opinion. MCP has great actions, go check them out.
