Could you elaborate what you mean by "yet there is no signal coming out of the card whatsoever."
I have exactly the same computer and card. The way I know it is functioning is, when in Premiere 5.5 ...
1. I go to Project / Settings/ General
2. Then I see the General Panel with the Renderer Dropdown
3. If I have the option to select the Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (the card) then the card is working. If you only have the option to select Software Only (below) then your card is not working. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply,
I mean that I have a black screen i.e. no video signal.
Tried your suggestion and the Renderer drop down is greyed out.
Nice info Turgut. Boy this just reaffirms my decision to stay at 10.6.8. I will move to a PC before I install Lion.
Thanks guys for your input,
I have followed the instructions from Simweb's Lion install and also rolled back to 10.6.8 and no joy.
Also tried the card in both of the x16 PCI slots using Screen Sharing to access the Mac Pro. Even tried the second power connection on the motherboard as well.
Reached the end of the line in terms of trouble shooting so I'm certain now that the card was DOA so will be sending it back today for a replacement.
With regards to Lion lasvideo it seems that the drivers need to be installed as a Root user which is what Simweb's instructions are all about:
Still I'd wait if I were you till this mess is sorted out before attempting an upgrade.
Below are some of the more relevant links for anyone else trouble shooting a similar issue:
Quadro 4000 Mac
Snow Leopard 10.6
Thanks for the update Stephen. I will probably switch to a PC before I am forced to upgrade to Lion
No worries lasvideo,
Been toying with the idea movig to a PC myself, Apple just seems to be going nowhere for pro users now.
Sad state of affairs but to be honest I think we'll all admit that that were are Adobe software users first and not Mac or PC.
So it doesn't matter what machine you use, just so long as it works!
Stephen dont give up
dont loose your childhood happines
Which is much much much faster than quadro
As a side note, running Lion 10.7.2 without a hitch.
Glad to help and hear Lion is working for you.
Just to let you know my first quadro 4000 for mac was DOA and I purchased it in middle of December 2011. Same...no screen at startup. Must have been a bad batch that went out. I since exchanged for another under the warranty at it powered up fine. Using 10.6.8 and not looking to add lion anytime soon. So if anyone has a problem. It is most likely a bad card from the get go and return it and get another.
Interesting.... thanks for letting us know carylee.
Not much fun though hey.
Spent far too many hours banging my head against the wall.
