Flash 10.2 on OS X 10.4.1

We have a 2006 iMac, the first all-in-one with the Intel Core Duo chip.

It still works well for most things.

Over the past year or so, the kids' game sites - Lego Star Wars, and YouTube have been sketchy... they play like we have a dial-up, but we have a high-speed internet connection.

The same sites on our Windows 7 laptop work just fine.

So I figured we just needed an earlier Flash player.

We had 10.2.

I just tried to download and install 10.3 for Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5.

I have downloaded and installed multiple times and each time, these sites, and anything requiring flash, says I don't have flash installed.

I cannot find 10.2 anywhere.

Can someone please help - how to a) find the original 10.2 from a couple years ago or b) get 10.3 for Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5 to actually work once the install completes?

Thanks,

Mike

Carl,

Thank YOU.

I feel so sad that  I still need more help.

I scrolled down and downloaded the 10.2.159 zip file.

I clicked that open.

I clickd on the

flashplayer10_2r159_1_mac_intel.dmg

file

which replied with a "You have a newer version of Flash already installed." message.

aye carumba.

So, if Adobe thinks the 10.3 is installed, why don't the internet games?

So, do I

1) uninstall 10.3 first (HOW???  instructions on adobe site are all windows)

2) leave 10.3 and just get it to work

THANK YOU

Mike

Macintosh

  1. Download the appropriate uninstaller from the following page: Uninstall Flash Player | Mac
  2. Close all browser windows, mount and run the uninstaller
  3. Restart OS X
  4. Delete all remaining files and folders locating in the following folders:
    • \Library\Internet Plug-Ins\Flash Player.plugin
    • \Library\Internet Plug-Ins\flashplayer.xpt
    • ~\Library\Preferences\Macromedia\Flash Player\
    • ~\Library\Caches\Adobe\Flash Player\

At this point, Flash Player should be fully removed from your system

Thanks, Carl.

I downloaded and ran the uninstall for 10.3 & 10.2.

The Internet Plug-In library was completely empty.

I deleted the Flash Player sub-folders form Preferences and Caches.

I reinstalled 10.2... same issue.

I uninstalled 10.2.

I downloaded and re-installed 10.3... same issue.

note to self... if it ain't broken, don't fix it... if the video's slow, it still ain't broken, so don't try to fix it.  ; )

I'll try again later, to make sure i didn't miss a step.

Thanks,

Mike
