Can I remove breadcrumbs from certain topics only

I am using Robohelp 8.0.2/Webhelp, and need to remove breadcrumbs from two topics only. These are topics that are only viewable to the user after they've completed a successful authenticated login in the application the help resides. Due to breadcrumbs, we noticed that users can navigate to all the topics through the system generated breadcrumbs at the top.

I'd like to remove the breadcrumbs from two topics, but have them display on all others. Please advise if this is possible.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there

This will require a bit of work. Not insurmountable, but some changes obviously need to be made.

Breadcrumbs may be global or selective. With global, every topic gets a breadcrumb trail. You enable and disable them in the Single Source Layout recipe. So the first step will be to disable them.

To selectively enable breadcrumbs, there are a few different approaches.

If perhaps you have 1,000 topics and only want breadcrumbs on two of those, you would edit the two topics and insert a Breadcrumbs Placeholder inside each topic.

Now let's reverse the request. You have 1,000 topics and want breadcrumbs on all but two topics. To do this, you define a Master Page that contains a Breadcrumbs Placeholder in the Header area (or footer if that's where you want them - or both areas) Then you associate the Master Page with all but those two topics. Because the Breadcrumbs are inside the Master Page, all associated topics will receive them.

Cheers... Rick
