Glitchdog Jan 11, 2012 7:42 PM (in response to NotEnoughHours)Personally we use Apple ProRes, but are considering shifting to the free Avid DnxHD as we are not sure if Apple will continue to develop the codec.

JSS1138 Jan 11, 2012 9:59 PM (in response to NotEnoughHours)The best option for archiving will be something lossless. On the PC, some good options are Uncompressed, or you can install the free Lagarith or UT codecs. Both use lossless compression, so they'll create smaller files, but without losing any quality.

davidbeisner2010 Jan 12, 2012 12:52 PM (in response to Glitchdog)If you want pure lossless, then you'll use one Jim recommended... but I'll throw in another vote for the Avid DNxHD codec, as it gives a beautiful image with decent file sizes, and it's also cross platform.
