1. Re: Video metadata in Bridge CS5.1
Curt Y Jan 10, 2012 6:53 AM (in response to afgoody)Bridge does not use a database. Data is either added to file or an xmp file is created.

afgoody Jan 10, 2012 7:07 AM (in response to afgoody)Is there a better option for managing video metadata regardless of file type (wrapper) or codec?

3. Re: Video metadata in Bridge CS5.1
Curt Y Jan 10, 2012 7:44 AM (in response to afgoody)With Bridge you don't have any options to change.
What are you trying to do?
Are you talking about a different browser?
Bridge does have some problems with the different types of video. Sure wish the industry would standardize on codecs. Seems like there is a bewildering array.

4. Re: Video metadata in Bridge CS5.1
afgoody Jan 10, 2012 8:16 PM (in response to Curt Y)I mean is there a better program for this sort of thing or is Bridge in fact writing the Metadata to the file (is so, how can I verify...I don't see an XMP sidecar)?
Basically, I'd like to be able to accurately catalog my videos from my Handycam (.h2ts) and DSLR (.mov) as easily and permanently as I do with my photos in Lightroom. Specifically, I want to update metadata like "Date Taken" and "Keywords" so that I can sort and filter as needed.
...yes, bewildering puts it mildly

5. Re: Video metadata in Bridge CS5.1
afgoody Jan 11, 2012 8:48 PM (in response to afgoody)Well, looks like Lightroom 4 will expand video support to both of the filetypes I'm concerned with...

Still open to other options, but if this ends up being true in the beta, then I'll be able to consolidate into one very well designed piece of software...very nice!
