We are testing version 9 (we use version 7) and when we build our PDF documentation, there are very small 20T (yes, the string 20T in what seems to be 1 point font, see attached screen shot) before and after the table of contents entries. These do not exist in the version 7 output. Also, many other bolded headers have 25T before and after them through out the document.
Any ideas what these are and how to get rid of them?

Not something that has been reported before.
Do the unwanted characters appear anywhere in the OLH TOC or is it only the PDF TOC?
If you generate just to Word, do you see these characters there?

Are you letting RoboHelp generate the PDF or do you do that from the Word document when that has been created?
If you are generating from Word, what are you using for the PDF and have you tried another tool.

RoboHelp is doing the generation.

Try just outputting to Word and then creating the PDF using the same tool and another PDF tool.

That works, or course.
That does not really solve the problem since we have many documents that we build in batch and this issue occurs with all of them.

What works? Using the same PDF tool as RoboHelp or another PDF tool?
If it is the RoboHelp PDF tool, which one? Are you using the Techical Communication Suite with the full version of Acrobat?

So if you use Word's PDF it is OK. What if you use the Acrobat PDF that appears in Word's list of printers? That is what RoboHelp will use and if the problem comes back that way, then it pins Acrobat as he problem. Then maybe some poking around that will identify the specific.

Printing to the Adobe PDF printer works fine as well.
It only happens when RH targets PDF directly.

That is odd and, as I said earlier, is not a problem I have seen anyone else encounter.
Even though you are on the trial version, you can apply the service releases so I think that is the first thing I would try.
Would you be willing to send me a topic that gives this problem, along with the CSS? If you are, see the Contact page on my site.
