1. Re: Move a system drive from 1 computer to another?
Harm Millaard Feb 21, 2012 2:31 AM (in response to Steve from NY)From a hardware point of view, there will probably be no problems and reactivation of Windows is not likely to be required, but do the two systems have exactly the same software and the same versions installed? If not, then you may get some registry problems, unless of course you were wise enough to install all your applications on the system drive. Then they are available as always.
Try it out and see if you can easily solve the raid 0+1 issue. Fat chances that that will be issue, but if you have a backup, then there is no problem. BTW, why do you want to do that?

JEShort01 Feb 21, 2012 3:49 AM (in response to Steve from NY)Steve,
Suggested precautions:
- make sure all bios settings related to drives are correct for both sides of the swap
- make an image backup of both systems to restore back to where you were in the event something does wrong
- de-authorize Adobe before the swap; it is easy to do and will prevent you having to get your license re-done by Adobe in the event something goes wrong
Good luck!
Regards,
Jim

3. Re: Move a system drive from 1 computer to another?
Steve from NY Feb 21, 2012 6:33 AM (in response to Harm Millaard)Thanks both.
Yes all the SW is the same & all installed on the sys drive. I do make regular Images with Norton Ghost. I did OC the system that I want to clone the sys drive to be used in the newer sys. I will OC it as well before doing the swap.
I have (4) 3 tb seagates that i will be striping to (2) Raid 0's. I forgot but I remember having to do something that will allow win7 to see them as such. Do you know what that is?
(software raid)
