John T Smith Feb 26, 2012 9:27 PM (in response to ksemple)If you have to ask strangers, and not give everyone your history and skills in that field so they have anything other than a link to the Psychic Hotline to formulate an answer, I would say NO

Bill Hunt Feb 27, 2012 7:22 AM (in response to ksemple)FWIW, I made such a career change, but that was almost 40 years ago - totally different time. Other than the initial and drastic drop in my paycheck, I never looked back. In my case, I left civil engineering, and went back to shcool for a degree in cinematography. However, I had great support from my wife, so things were easier for me. I did get to "make it up to her," when she went to grad school, a few years later.
I wish you luck, but share some of the concerns that John T. voiced.
Still, best of luck, and it can work out, if one is fortunate, and positions themselves in the right place, at the right time.

Am thinking about quitting my day job and go full time into Cinematography, cause that's where passion is. what do you guys think good idea or bad idea!!!
======
keep getting into it while keeping day job until the cinema is taking so much time and paying you enough money to make the switch with a reasonable chance of making the money you need to live on fundamentally ( pay rent, eat... basics ).
good luck. dreams are important , and passion is too.
