Load different versions of Help depending on user's OS?

Is it possible to have different versions of Help load depending on the user's OS?

For example, if a user is accessing from a PC then they would load the AIR Help version, but if they were accessing from a Mac then they would load the HTML version.

Is this something that is handled on our database end, or would it be a feature of Adobe RoboHelp Server?

I believe AIR works cross-platform, so that example is moot and if getting help from a webserver, the browser of the choice would dictate what you use, right? You could configure your software to determine o/s & launch different flavours of help, but it's not something that RH determines.

But that is for installed versions of AIR only, correct?

For this project it will all be browser-based Help. We really like how Air looks in-browser but we are concerned about our Apple users being unable to view it properly.

See Peter's page on the differences - http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/air/air.htm

How it looks to an Apple user will depend on their browser choice.

I suspect it will not work on an Apple given that browser based AIR help relies on Flash.

The installed version would work on both platforms though.

But for example, is there a functionality built in to RoboHelp so that I can generate Help content that will display the Air Help content if the user has Flash, and the HTML content if they do not?

Or, is that something that would need to be configured on the server/database side?

Or, is that something that is doable with RoboHelp Server?

Try this link if you want to see how browser based help will look on MACs and Apple hardware.

Your developers would need to create a sniffer to ascertain the OS of the user's device and then route to the required help. That is not built into RoboHelp and RoboHelp Server will not assist with this one.
